Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Mesa is a regional air carrier providing scheduled, commercial passenger service throughout the U.S. as well as to Canada, Mexico, Cuba and The Bahamas. Founded in 1982 by Larry and Janie Risley, “Mesa Air Shuttle” launched service between Farmington and Albuquerque, New Mexico on a five-seat Piper Saratoga aircraft. It was the beginning of what would become one of the industry’s most successful regional airlines. Mesa operates all of its flights as either United Express flights pursuant to the terms of capacity purchase agreements entered into with American Airlines, Inc. and United Airlines, Inc. Mesa has been the fastest growing regional airline in the United States over the last five fiscal years, based on fleet growth, with a cumulative increase in aircraft of 137%. Since its modest beginnings in Farmington, New Mexico, Mesa continues to build on its proven track record of successful growth supported by safety-focused operations and industry-leading cost efficiency.
